Actor Gurfateh Pirzada, who played the dashing Neel Nair in the recent Amazon Prime series ‘Call Me Bae,’ joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for this episode of Sunday Brunch. His fabulous co-stars Ananya Pandey, Vihaan Samat and Varun Sood also joined at Amazonia in Mumbai. Gurfateh has previously worked on 2018’s ‘Friends in Law’, Netflix’s ‘Guilty’ and ‘Class’, among other notable works. While reflecting on the actors’ first jobs and pay cheques, we discovered Gurfateh was a butcher!
After relishing delicious pizza, sushi and more food with the cast of ‘Call Me Bae’, we chatted about their first jobs. Actor Gurfateh had quite an interesting job in Canada. He shared, “I was working at a meat shop and pizza store in Canada, so that was my first job.”
This intrigued Kamiya and she wanted to know more about his role at the meat shop. Gurfateh told us that he worked as a butcher. This revelation amazed everyone present there! Kamiya praised him for donning the hat of a butcher for his first-ever job. The actor spoke about how jobs like these are standard in Canada and the USA. Hence, it was not such an odd experience for him.

Upon further discussion, we learned that Gurfateh first flew to Canada to attend college. However, he never enrolled himself in any institute and ended up working as a butcher to make ends meet.
After working there for a while, he made the wise decision to come back to Mumbai and change the course of his life and career. His days of being a butcher are long gone now. That was eleven years ago, and he chose to enter Bollywood as a new career since then. There is no looking back now.
