Before kick-off, it looked like this could be a difficult day for Liverpool, as the club confirmed boss Matt Beard would miss the game through illness and they faced a Manchester City side fresh from a stunning win over Barcelona.
Yet the Reds clearly hadn’t read the script as they went in at half-time a goal to the good thanks to a superb finish from distance from Olivia Smith.
Man City are missing striker Vivianne Miedema with a knock, and will be aware that both Chelsea and Manchester United have already picked up wins this weekend.
And who else would they look to for a much-needed equaliser?
