Hibernian have signed former Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Stoke City forward Dwight Gayle on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Derby County at the end of last season and spent time on trial with Stockport County this summer.
A hamstring injury after a February switch to Pride Park meant he only featured six times for the club but scored three goals, having moved from Stoke City, where he spent 18 months.
Before that Gayle scored 34 times in 122 Newcastle appearances, and 25 in 74 for Palace.
Gayle becomes Hibs boss David Gray’s 12th first-team signing, with his side still searching for a first league win as they prepare to welcome St Johnstone to Easter Road on Saturday.
“He’s a different type of striker to what we currently have in the building,” Gray said.
“He’s a real penalty box type of striker, a great finisher, and his experience will be of great benefit to us.”
