From January to November 2023, Cyprus witnessed a significant surge in tourism with 3,722,022 tourists visiting the island, indicating a 20.4% increase compared to the previous year, according to a report.
The United Kingdom led the chart as the predominant source of tourists in November 2023, accounting for 26.8% of the visitors. Following closely were Poland, Germany, and Greece with 11.8%, 10%, and 9.7% of the total arrivals respectively.
The Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) noted that the number of tourists continued to rise in the early months of 2024, showing a 1.7% increase in the first four months compared to the same period last year. In April 2024, the UK again topped the list, contributing 35.3% of all tourist arrivals.
Israel and Poland were also significant contributors in April 2024, with tourist percentages at 10.7% and 7.6% respectively. Most tourists, 82.1%, visited Cyprus for holidays, which is an increase from the previous year’s 79.3%. There was also an uptick in business trips, which made up 8.3% of the visits, compared to 6% in April 2023.

Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides (IATA: LCA, ICAO: LCLK) serves as the main international gateway to Cyprus. Located just 4 km southwest of Larnaca, it is the largest of two commercial airports controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. In 2023, the airport experienced significant traffic, with a record 8,074,183 passengers, marking a 33.74% increase from the previous year. This rise indicates a robust recovery in air travel, especially notable in the later months of 2023, with a 6% increase in November compared to November 2019.
Paphos International Airport (PFO)
Situated near the city of Paphos, this airport primarily serves tourists heading to the island’s western regions. It is particularly favored by holidaymakers for its connections with numerous low-cost carriers.
Located in Northern Cyprus, Ercan International Airport operates under the jurisdiction of Northern Cyprus and offers flights mainly to and from Turkey. The airport is not recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization.
Once an active airport, Nicosia International now stands idle within the UN buffer zone that divides the Greek and Turkish Cypriot territories. It no longer supports commercial aviation activities.

Additionally, the number of users engaging with the hotels market is forecasted to reach approximately 260.40k by 2028, underscoring the expanding popularity and demand for quality accommodation in the region.
