LUNCH! India Women had no hesitation in choosing to bat first. There was some movement in the first 10 overs and Verma and Smriti Mandhana respected it quite well but once the ball got soft and was coming onto the bat nicely, there was no looking back as both the openers scored runs briskly. Smriti Mandhana scored her fifty and Shafali Verma followed with her fourth Test fifty. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma have scored 23 boundaries and a six overall and that tells you how the bowling has been so far. Ordinary! Just what we saw in the ODI format. South Africa Women have not learned their lessons and are paying the price. At this rate and the way they are bowling, it would be quite a long tiring day for the visitors. They’ll hope the break brings some tactical plans out and a better way to kick off the second session. Stay tuned.
