DUBLIN : Ireland secured 131 investments from foreign multinationals so far this year that are set to create 8,900 jobs, down from 12,000 a year ago and a record 18,000 added in the same period of 2022, the country’s inward investment agency said. Last year’s outturn had represented a return to pre-pandemic levels, when jobs averaged around 12,000 at the half-year mark. When job losses were taken into account at the end of the year, employment at foreign multinational companies fell in 2023 for first time in more than a decade.
