Twister star Glen Powell was the name trending on Wednesday after People named A Quiet Place actor and director to take over from last year’s winner Patrick Dempsey. The Office actor Krasinski — best known for his role as Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom — joked to the publication that his first thoughts were: “Maybe I’m being punked.”
The Sexiest Man Alive 2024 conversation was first born in 1985 when a magazine editor declared Mel Gibson is “the sexiest man alive” in a meeting. Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Richard Gere have been named Sexiest Man Alive — twice! It’s an editorial choice, not the choice of the people and it’s based on many different things including physical appearance and who everyone is talking about.
Sexiest Man Alive 2024 is a talking point every year from the celebrity world but many were split over the decision, although it’s worth noting that it’s very subjective and often it sparks conversation.

Powell set pulses racing with his movie role in Anyone But You and some celebrity fans feel he was “snubbed” of the title. No doubt it was his movie this year Twister that stirred up the conversation storm online. Among the comments, one person said: “What do you mean Glen Powell wasn’t sexiest man alive???”
Another person added: “Here were yall when i was campaigning for glen powell to be sexiest man alive because i SWEAR not this many people had him as an option in their minds. i remember how surprised i was whenever he wasnt mentioned in the conversations.”

Social media was very much divided though as many people felt Krasinski was indeed the Sexiest Man Alive. In the comments, one person said: “Yall better leave john krasinski alone thats bro.”

Modest Krasinski — who has particularly won over fans with his franchise A Quiet Place — couldn’t believe that he was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive as he shared his initial reaction. “Just immediate blackout,” he told the magazine. “Zero thoughts.”
The actor — who has starred in rom coms Something Borrowed and It’s Complicated — added: “That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
His wife of 14 years, actor Emily Blunt, was incredibly excited about the prospect of her Hollywood star husband being the sexiest man on the planet. Krasinski had great “joy” in telling his wife — with whom he shares two daughters Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8 — especially after she joked she would make the magazine cover the main wallpaper in their house.
