Jets Week 1 inactives
Backup running back and kick returner Israel Abanikanda leads the Jets’ inactives list for Week 1.
Offensive line depth could be an issue with tackles Max Mitchell and Carter Warren out.
For the second straight year, the New York Jets will open their season on Monday Night Football. And while they’d like to open with a win over a Super Bowl contender — like the team did last year in beating the Buffalo Bills — they’d prefer to do it with their future Hall of Fame quarterback playing more than just four plays.
The Jets are in the Bay Area to take on the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers and are hoping to finally get the Aaron Rodgers era started. After tearing an Achilles’ tendon in that first game last year, the Jets were saddled with poor quarterback play all season and finished 7-10.
The 49ers had a very different season with both Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey finishing in the top-five in MVP voting and coming up just short of winning the Super Bowl, falling to the Chiefs in overtime after an 11-6 campaign in which San Francisco won the NFC West for a third time under Kyle Shanahan.
