WWE teased Joe Hendry‘s return at the end of WWE NXT Heatwave, and a new report provides an update.
In the main event of WWE NXT Heatwave, Ethan Page won the NXT Championship by emerging victorious in a four-way match for the title. As he celebrated and the show ended, a brief video clip of Joe Hendry played. This teased Hendry’s return to NXT after the TNA fan-favorite previously competed on the June 18 episode of WWE NXT.
Corey Brennan of Fightful (via Fightful Select) then reported that, per NXT sources, there are plans to use Hendry “heavily” in the near future as part of the crossover between TNA and NXT. Brennan writes that WWE would aim to capitalize on Hendry’s ability to go viral, with small teases being viewed as “enough” for the TNA star.
The report also notes that fans can expect more teases like the one seen at NXT Heatwave to build to Hendry’s return to NXT.
WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
