Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie earned high praise from coach Thiago Motta thanks to his contributions off the ball this season.
During Saturday’s pre-match press conference, the 26-year-old was a talking point, with the manager highlighting his Champions League performance as a memorable moment.
Juventus beat RB Leipzig 3-2 in the competition thanks to a smart move from the American. And it offered insight to McKennie’s qualities as a player.
“The tackle McKennie made [against] Leipzig might be more beautiful than [Fransico] Conceição goal,” admitted Motta. “That play says everything you need to know about Weston.”
“It’s worth more than the goal. The way he won the ball back was marvelous to watch as his coach.
“I’m so happy to have Weston in the squad, he’s helping us out a lot.”
The spotlight will arrive as a massive confidence boost for the Texan midfielder who has made the most of the club’s summer squad exodus to impress Motta.
Undoubtedly, McKennie will look to better his 10 goal contributions from last season with an assist already on the board.
