Simone Inzaghi will hope he can keep his perfect record as “king of the Supercoppa Italiana” when Inter Milan face Atalanta.
This is noted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
No coach has won the Supercoppa Italiana more times than Inzaghi.
The 48-year-old has won it twice as coach of Lazio, both times beating Juventus to clinch the trophy. And then he has guided Inter to the Supercoppa for three seasons running.
The Nerazzurri have beaten the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, and Lazio for the Supercoppa.
No coach has won the Supercoppa as many times as Inzaghi, Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi are next in line after him, with four Supercoppa triumphs each.
And as Tuttosport note, no coach can surpass Inzaghi this season.
None of Gian Piero Gasperini, Thiago Motta, or Sergio Conceicao have won the trophy before.
Therefore, even if Inzaghi fails to extend his lead at the top of the charts, he will remain there for at least one more season no matter what.
But beyond that, the Inter coach also has a perfect record in the competition.
With Lazio and the Nerazzurri, Inzaghi has coached six matches in the Supercoppa. And won six.
Against Atalanta, therefore, the Inter coach will hope to make it seven from seven.
