Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Andy Behrens explains why the Patriots running back is worth a late grab for Week 5.
Andy Barons, give us somebody that you’ve got out there.
That is a last minute pickup.
Yeah, Antonio Gibson is still available in about two thirds of Yahoo Leagues.
He’s expected to draw the start at running back for the Patriots this week.
Ra Andre Stevenson is getting his hand slapped for early season fumbles.
Let’s just ignore the fact that Gibson himself has a dozen career fumbles including like four last season.
He hasn’t done it in New England yet.
So he has a clean slate.
Uh, Gibson is also averaging 5.3 yards per carry this year, 6.6 yards per touch and this week he gets Miami, that is a defense that’s allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
Miami also the rare matchup for New England in which we can reasonably expect game flow to be favorable to the run.
So I don’t think, you know, there’s any point in this game where Gibson is shut out.
Stevenson still expected to be involved for the Patriots.
Of course, it’s not, it’s not baseball starting status isn’t everything.
So no one is promising you 20 touches for Gibson necessarily, but he’s an efficient back with a friendly match up who’s in line for big jump in volume.
