Our beloved father,
Michael Dean Brooks (Dean) of St. Mary’s First Nation made
his way into the Spirit World on June 26th, 2024. He was 70 years
young. He was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and was the late son
of Tom Brooks and Geraldine Paul.
In his early years,
he traveled all over the fair circuit with the King Reid and Bill
Lynch Show. He served as a security guard with St. Mary’s Security for
many years. Dean recently celebrated his 35th year of soberity and
often thanks the Rising Sun for their continuous support throughout
the years. He enjoyed long drives with his wife Darlene exploring the
countryside.
Dean was survived by his wife
Darlene, his three children: Michael Brooks Jr., Kea Brooks
and Everett Brooks along with his two stepchildren, Andy Nash (Annie)
and Bobbi-Jo Nash, and special daughter, Leann Jones-Estey (Derrick),
his grandchildren: Michael Brooks III, Bryce Nash, Breanne Hayes
(Tyler), Thomas Brooks (Alley), Marshall Brooks, Jordan Hayes, Mathew
Brooks, Mitchell Brooks, and Tessa Joe. Brothers and Sisters: Shirley
Howe (Morely), Maureen Fox (Brian), Wayne Brooks (Kim), Brad Paul
(Nancy) well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Walter Brooks, Melvin
“Jose” Paul, Thomas “Tarzan” Brooks, his sisters:
Pauline Paul, Susan “Suzie” Brooks, his nephew: Douglas Paul
and granddaughter: Makayla Angel
Brooks.
He will be deeply missed by his best friend, Whitey
Carpenter of
Maine.
Dean will be resting at the Maqiyahtimok Center
located at 247 Maliseet Drive, St. Mary’s First Nation.
Visitation will take place on Friday, June 28th, 2024 beginning at
12PM to Sunday, June 30th, 2024 where a Traditional Service will take
place at 2PM.
