Mark this day in your diaries folks as Motherwell have now got six wins out of seven!
The run of form we’re on right now is immense. I know the inevitable eight games without a win spell will happen around wintertime, as it does every year, but as it stands now I genuinely think we have the ability to push for European football.
Hibs have had a tipsy turvy start to their season and Hearts have been diabolical. The only other usual contenders I can see causing us problems are, of course, Aberdeen and maybe St Mirren.
This is the most exciting the league has felt in a long while with Aberdeen outperforming Rangers, Motherwell in a semi-final and the teams sitting from sixth to ninth changing frequently. It feels as though for once there might not be an obvious prediction on who may finish second never mind the rest of the spots in the league.
All this may change depending on how Aberdeen play against Celtic in the league after the break but overall, Scottish football has been so enjoyable to watch and follow this season both from a Motherwell perspective and as a genuine fan of football.
Bringing things back to Motherwell, I only have a few words and those are Aston Oxborough lifetime contract.
I have discussed this before but he has been one of the main keys to our success so far this season. His deal runs out this summer and I can only hope and pray the club is doing everything it can to keep him longer.
Not only is he confident between the sticks he also inspires confidence in our defence which was sorely lacking last season. If I were Steve Clarke, I would be checking ancestory.com to see if he has any Scottish grandparents we don’t know of.
I hope Motherwell give that man whatever he asks for regardless of if it is a wage rise, a swimming pool in his garden with the club crest, or a Lamborghini. Make it happen Motherwell!
