Duke basketball’s Tyrese Proctor, Jared McCain discuss win vs. Clemson
Following Duke basketball’s win vs. Clemson, Tyrese Proctor and Jared McCain provided their thoughts on the Blue Devils’ performance.
A pair of Duke basketball players will get an opportunity to play for an NBA franchise this summer.
Jared McCain and Kyle Filipowski are the latest Blue Devils hoping to show off their skills in the NBA. The summer league starts July 6 in Sacramento and concludes July 22 in Las Vegas.
The California Classic Summer League begins July 6, followed by the Salt Lake City Summer League (July 8). Those leagues feature select teams, but the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, which begins July 12, will feature all 30 squads.
Here’s a look at the latest Duke basketball players to join NBA teams and how to watch those former Blue Devils in the summer league.
Selected 16th overall by the 76ers, McCain can provide Philly with some instant offense as a consistent shotmaker from beyond the arc and as a mid-range shooter. UCLA’s Adem Bona was Philly’s other draft pick. Both players will likely be suiting up for the Sixers in the Salt Lake City league before heading to Vegas.
McCain joins a roster that expects to be contending for a spot in the NBA Finals next season. Philly, which has a pair of returning stars in Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, is reportedly set to add veteran all-star Paul George to the mix.
From a green room invite to being selected in the second round, Filipowski heads to Utah with plenty of motivation to prove his detractors wrong. The former Blue Devil has the height, mobility and skill to become a reliable rotation player in the league.
Colorado’s Cody Williams and USC’s Isaiah Collier were Utah’s other draft picks, and UNC’s Armando Bacot was among the free agents to sign with the Jazz. Utah might be moving on from Lauri Markkanen, which would open up even more of an opportunity for Filipowski.
