Returned from a 201 day break to go close behind Meydaan, having previously beaten Modern Times at Kempton.
That run in listed company at Goodwood was all the right signs of a top winner.
His first run as a three-year-old, first run on turf, and that form has worked out incredibly well.
He was just behind Space Legend and Meydaan, the former have since gone on to place in Group 2 company at Royal Ascot while the latter also went on to place well in Group 2 company over 1m6f.
Royal Power is by Frankel and drops down to 1m2f and clearly has the staying power and speed to win a contest like this while unexposed and with plenty of room for more improvement.
The Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes is a fillies contest over 6f, with 11 runners in contention on Friday afternoon.
There’s a 4/1 starting price meaning it’s wide open and with plenty of value.
This Qatar Racing-owned Mighty Eriu was just under two lengths behind Leovanni in the Queen Mary Stakes.
Beating Maw Lam, who reappears as a rival here and they were both 50/1 in that 5f contest.
She should benefit from the step up in trip and her two 2nd place finishes so far bode well going forward.
But Maw Lam was a strong finisher to go third and has shaped as though the step up from 5f to 6f is going to suit.
She is by Acclamation who is a Group 1 6f winner but never quite got that accolade over 5f.
This three-year-old filly has been consistent in Group 1 contests over the last year, with a form reading: 231221.
She placed just a neck behind Elmalka in the 1000 Guineas Stakes here in May.
That was her first run as a three-year-old and she’s clearly got even better as she went on to win by a length to Opera Singer to win the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
As a three-year-old she gets given 9lb to the four-year-olds, including the improving Running Lion.
She looks like she’s figured things out to start winning these kinds of races but hasn’t got the consistency yet, nor the weight difference but should still be right up there.
Raqiya is a huge price considering she won her first run this season ahead of Funny Story.
She reappears as a 10/1 each-way shot while Unequal Love is the favourite at 9/4 and also beat that filly back at Newmarket in May.
The three-year-old filly, by Blue Point has an impressive success rate and continued on her first run this season to add to her two-year-old campaign.
She was given plenty of weight that day and now has to improve further, but it was a solid start and under Jim Crowley they can often win at a nice price for owners Shadwell Estate.
