Miami’s Jason Sanders gets the game-winning field goal
Sanders kicked a 52-yard field goal as time expired to complete the Dolphins comeback and get the win.
The first Sunday of the 2024 NFL season kicked off with a bang in Miami as the Dolphins and Jaguars turned in a thriller in Miami. Jason Sanders hit a 52-yard field goal as time expired to give Miami a 20-17 win. Tyreek Hill, who was detained by police before the game, caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa as part of a seven-catch, 130-yard performance.
In Chicago, No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams got a win in his first start, although it was the defense and special teams that did the heavy lifting for the Bears. Williams threw for just 92 yards, but the Bears returned a blocked punt and interception for touchdowns in a 24-17 win over the Titans.
