Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services were again kept busy responding to suspected opioid-related calls in May.
In its latest update, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reports paramedics responded to 36 incidents involving opioids, up from 25 calls in April.
So far this year ambulance personnel have responded to 232 drug-related calls.
Meanwhile, 16 people had to be taken to emergency departments for opioid-related illness, up from 7 in April.
One person died in May of suspected opioid overdose.
