Whether you’re into a full beard or a close-cropped cut, personal grooming is going to be a part of your regular routine. And if your choice is to go to a barber regularly for that professional touch, we totally get it. But maybe you’re more of the do-it-yourself type. If that’s the case, the right tools will make all the difference in the world.
Beard trimmers are a wonderful way to take care of your hair growth at home. They can be used by everybody (not just beard-havers), they’re reliable, and they usually come with a ton of accessories to make sure you can achieve every cut. Some of them even come with extra tools for detailed work. They’re also pretty affordable, and they’ll save you a lot of money in the long run.
If you’re excited to buy a new or replacement beard trimmer, we’re here (and excited) to help you find the best one. Beard trimmers will vary in price, kit size, weight, cutting length range, battery type, battery life, and so much more. And to make sure you choose the right one for you, you’ll have to think about each and every feature.
This comprehensive guide will investigate the best beard trimmers in Canada right now and outline the criteria you should consider while making your purchase decision. Let’s dive right into our top five products.
We like so many things about the Philips Multigroomer Series 7000 Beard Trimmer. It’s one of the most versatile trimmers around, for starters. It comes with 14 different guards (two fading hair combs, two body guards, four hair guards, and five beard guards) plus five different trimming heads (a regular trimmer, an extra-wide trimmer, a precision detailer, a foil shaver, and a nose/ear hair trimmer).
It’s also got a long battery life—five whole hours per charge! You’ll be able to use it for weeks without ever plugging it in. Since the blades are self-sharpening, require no oil, and are easy to rinse in running water, you won’t ever have to worry about maintenance either. It’s the ultimate all-in-one tool for personal grooming.
We have very few complaints with this one. Almost none, in fact. The only thing we’d change is the location of the power button. It’s pretty easy to hit the button accidentally, especially when changing out the attachment heads. You’ll be able to avoid this once you get used to the trimmer, but it’s something to be aware of at least.
Overall, the Philips Multigroomer Series 7000 Beard Trimmer is our absolute favourite option currently. No matter what type of haircut, beard style, or body trim you’re after on any given day, this trimmer has the power and the versatility to get it done right.

Reviewers have a very high opinion of the Philips Multigroomer Series 7000 Beard Trimmer. There are guards and attachment heads included for every possible purpose, and the 5-hour battery life is the most convenient thing ever. They also really enjoy that they don’t ever have to worry about maintenance. They think the power button could be in a better spot, though.

The Wahl Cordless Rechargeable Beard Trimmer has a lot working in its favour. The accessories kit is its main claim to fame (in our opinion at least). Not only does it come with seven standard guards, but you’ll also get an adjustable one that can be set to six different lengths. That’s fourteen options in total! Your kit also includes a travel bag, a cleaning brush, blade oil, and a comb. Talk about well-rounded.
We’re also really pleased with the safety feature included for travel. We’re talking about the travel lock here. Just click it down to prevent the blades from turning on while it’s stored in a bag. It’s a whole lot safer this way, and you’ll protect your battery life too.
There’s only one main flaw with this one, and that’s the battery. It doesn’t hold a charge all that well, so you’ll want to plug it in frequently, and there’s a good chance it’ll just die altogether in a couple of years. Not ideal, we know. A couple of other features that we’d change if we could are the trimming range (we’d prefer longer guards in a perfect world) and the price tag (we wish it was just a bit more accessible).
All in all, the Wahl Cordless Rechargeable Beard Trimmer is one of our favourite options for Canadians right now. While we’d prefer it to have a more reliable battery, the trimmer itself is very durable. You’ll be able to achieve a full range of styles with this one, too, and it’s a great travel companion.

Reviewers like almost everything about the Wahl Cordless Rechargeable Beard Trimmer. They do wish it came with a higher quality battery, as it doesn’t hold a charge too well, but otherwise, they’re very happy with it. It performs really well on every hair type, and with 14 cutting lengths to choose from, they can nail every haircut and beard trim they try.

We like a lot of features that the Philips Multigroom Series 3000 Cordless Beard Trimmer has to offer. Since it comes with a nose/ear hair trimming attachment and a small detailing head, you’ll be able to cover all of the essentials above the neck. And you’ll get three hair guards and four beard guards, too. Every attachment is easily rinsed under some running water for easy cleaning.
The stress-free maintenance doesn’t end there, either. The self-sharpening blades don’t ever need to be oiled, so you’ll never have to think about them for the life of the trimmer. Talk about convenience. We’re also really happy with the quick-charge feature—a five-minute charge gives you enough battery for one full trim. Perfect for those days you forget to plug it in before bed.
We have two main critiques of this option, folks. First of all, the longevity just isn’t there—you’ll likely end up needing to replace it at roughly the two-year mark. Just something to be aware of. Also, it doesn’t have a battery charge indicator light, so if you’d prefer not to guesstimate whether you have enough battery for a trim or not, this isn’t the trimmer for you.
Overall, the Philips Multigroom Series 3000 Cordless Beard Trimmer is our favourite budget-friendly option right now. It doesn’t have the greatest longevity or all the high-tech features, but it’s a reliable choice that is incredibly easy to maintain and even easier on your bank account.

Reviewers have mostly good things to say about the Philips Multigroom Series 3000 Cordless Beard Trimmer. The price was right for all of them, and they got a lot of use out of it thanks to the extra attachments for nose/ear hair and detail work. Some of them would prefer it to have a battery charge indicator, though, and a more long-lasting motor.

The Remington PG525D Head to Toe Advanced Body Groomer Kit has a lot going for it. The thing we love most is how versatile the attachments are. It comes with a standard trimmer with three guards, a foil shaver, a nose/ear hair trimmer, and a body hair trimmer. In other words, there’s no area on your body that can’t be groomed with this kit. Plus, it’s super affordable! Like, surprisingly so. You don’t want to miss out.
We’re also big fans of the battery. It’s a cordless rechargeable one, so it’s really easy to use anywhere, and you get 70 minutes of runtime per charge. Enough for multiple full grooms at least. All of the attachments are splash-proof too, so they clean easily under running water. And that’s not all! You even get a storage tray to keep all of the attachments together. They’ll always be there when you need them.
Our main concern with this beard trimmer is that it doesn’t offer the same precision cutting lengths as other beard trimming kits. You might not be able to manage your favourite haircuts by yourself with this one. Also, the blades will need to be oiled and sharpened occasionally to keep them working as intended, and if that doesn’t float your boat, this might not be a good fit.
All in all, the Remington PG525D Head to Toe Advanced Body Groomer Kit is a fabulous choice that we feel confident recommending to just about anybody. The price tag is super reasonable, the kit is super versatile, and it even comes with a storage tray to help you stay organized. Pretty great, huh?

Reviewers have a great opinion of the Remington PG525D Head to Toe Advanced Body Groomer Kit. Every attachment works well, even years down the line, and they’re super easy to keep clean since they can rinse off in the sink. The battery holds its charge well, too, even when they go weeks in between uses. They’re grateful that they can touch up every area of their body with this one kit.

The Remington Barba Beard Trimmer is by far our favourite option for travellers. Whether it’s frequent business trips or a world tour, you’ll want to keep up with your grooming in the most convenient way possible, right? Since this beard trimmer has an adjustable head instead of a kit of guards, you’ll only need to keep track of one thing instead of a dozen or more. How perfect is that?
We’re also big fans of the maintenance-free design—this thing is lubricated for life so you never have to oil the blades yourself. And since it also has a pop-up precision trimmer, you won’t need a separate tool for the details. Again, super convenient for travelling. The ergonomic grip is another great addition—you won’t ever feel like you’re going to drop it, to have it actually slip on you and ruin your haircut. Phew.
One of the only things we don’t love about this beard trimmer is the fact that its adjustable head isn’t as versatile as a full kit of guards. Although it can be adjusted to nine different heights, it still won’t offer the same cutting range or precision as well-rounded guard kits. It’s just the nature of the beast, unfortunately.
All in all, the Remington Barba Beard Trimmer is a pretty fantastic option if you’ll be travelling a lot with a grooming kit. It takes only seconds to adjust the trim length, and you don’t have a loaded kit to keep track of. Convenient, isn’t it? It’s priced really well, too. Bonus.

Reviewers are quite happy with the performance of the Remington Barba Beard Trimmer. Many of them chose it because of its convenience—they love that they can take it on work trips or recreational adventures without worrying about keeping an entire kit together. The ergonomic grip makes them feel more secure while they’re trimming, too.

Some beard trimmers cost less than $30, others cost more than $120. In general, the most expensive beard trimmers will come with longer-lasting batteries, a more well-rounded accessories kit, and a more durable motor.
Almost every beard trimmer will come with some sort of accessories kit. It might only be a couple of guards or a travel bag, but others will come with a full kit of guards plus extras like blade oil, additional attachment heads, and even a comb. Depending on what accessories you have already and what kind of trimming you’ll be doing, you’ll be able to decide what kit size will work best for you.
The cutting length range of a beard trimmer will depend on the included guards. Some beard trimmers will have a very narrow range, others will be suited to every kind of trim imaginable. Again, you’ll have to think about the trimming you’ll be doing to figure out what range you need to look for.
Almost every beard trimmer will come with a rechargeable battery instead of a replaceable one, and the odd model will need to be plugged in continuously for power. If you do end up going with a rechargeable one, you’ll want to pay attention to the battery life too. Some are as short as 20-30 minutes, others can run for hours on a single charge.
