During the function, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects. He will also dedicate to the nation the new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the extended platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
The Thane-Borivali Tunnel Project, costing ₹ 16,600 crore, will create a direct connection between the Western Express Highway at Borivali and Ghodbunder Road in Thane via twin tube tunnels passing under Sanjay Gandhi National Park. This 11.8-kilometre-long link will reduce the distance between Thane and Borivali by 12 kilometres, saving approximately one hour of travel time.
The
₹ 6,300 crore Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project will connect the Western Express Highway at Goregaon to the Eastern Express Highway at Mulund, featuring twin tunnels. This project aims to reduce travel time from 75 minutes to 25 minutes.
The remodeling of Kalyan Yard will help segregate suburban and long-distance train traffic on the congested Mumbai metropolitan network, improving punctuality and operational efficiency. The Gati Shakti MultiModal Cargo Terminal will enhance capacity for handling cement and other commodities while creating job opportunities in the region.
The new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the extended platforms at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus will accommodate more trains and facilitate the operation of 24-coach trains, increasing ridership.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana,’ a youth skill development initiative with an outlay of ₹ 5,600 crore.
In addition to these activities, PM Modi will visit the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat at Bandra Kurla Complex to inaugurate the INS Towers.
