Emma Raducanu arrived for training ahead of Wimbledon on Sunday morning, smiling and laughing in her England shirt.
The tennis player demonstrated her ball-catching skills at the All England Club in SW19, maybe as a test run for the position of long-term replacement for Jordan Pickford.
Raducanu showed up wearing a shirt and shorts from the England team, carrying a custom Dior bag embroidered with her initial name. She had surgery on her ankle and wrist last year, which kept her from participating at Wimbledon.
Raducanu is back and aiming to improve on her stellar 2021 grass-court tournament debut, where she advanced to the fourth round as a wildcard entry, a status she holds this year as well.
Ranked world no.
168, Emma played her last match on the 27th of June when she surrendered to world no.14 Darya Kasatkina 6-2 6-2 in the quarter in Eastbourne (draw).
This season Raducanu achieved an overall 13-9 match record. Emma Raducanu’s most significant performance of this year was reaching the semifinal in Nottingham.
Emma Raducanu will square off with the world no.22 Ekaterina Alexandrova in the 1st round on Monday at 4:30 pm on Centre Court. In the past, they have never played each other as of now in top events.
