After a
sixth-place disappointment last month in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes, Eclipse Award
winner Just F Y I has been turned out and may be done racing for the year, a
report said Friday.
Trainer
Bill Mott told Daily Racing Form’s David Grening that the 2023 champion
juvenile filly would spend the next 1 1/2 months at Fair Hill Training Center
in Maryland.
Even
though he said Just F Y I “can’t be ready for the Breeders’ Cup” in November at
Del Mar, Mott did not completely rule out a possible start late this fall.
The
Acorn at Saratoga completed a busy spring for the 3-year-old Justify filly bred and owned
by George Krikorian. She finished second to Leslie’s Rose in the Ashland (G1)
at Keeneland and second to division leader Thorpedo Anna in the Kentucky Oaks
(G1) at Churchill Downs. Add the Acorn, and Just F Y I raced three times in nine
weeks.
Grade 1
victories in the Frizette and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies highlighted Just F
Y I’s perfect 2023 campaign. Her 2024 season got off to a delayed start after a
reported fever kept her out of the Davona Dale (G2) on March 2 at Gulfstream
Park.
