For more than a decade, residents of Safal Vivaan, a prominent residential society near Gota Circle, have been awaiting the completion of an 18-metre-wide TP Road that will connect their area to the SG Highway. The facility remains beyond their reach despite repeated appeals to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Chief Minister’s Office (CM) and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Safal Vivaan a luxurious 4 and 5-BHK villas and row house scheme was completed in 2014. Most of its residents are doctors, engineers, CAs and other professionals. Residents said the project brochure mentioned two TP roads and the builder had committed to build it soon however later he washed his hands off the matter stating it was the responsibility of the AMC.
Jyoti Mehta, a resident of the society, said their efforts have failed to bring result despite lodging plaints at the highest level. She further said that frustrated by the delays, the society collectively financed an internal road costing Rs 6 lakh.
Ashwin Nayak, another resident of the society, said waterlogging in the monsoon further exacerbates the difficulties faced by residents. “Additionally, the road has become a garbage track, escalating the difficulty for pedestrians.”
Nayak said in 2017, an AMC official acknowledged the issue via social media and assured them that the necessary budget provision for constructing an 18-metre-wide road was sanctioned. “The civic body then constructed a 6-metre road instead of the approved 18-metre-wide road.”
Residents said they face traffic congestion that is further worsened by the movement of industrial units and heavy vehicles, due to lack of a direct connection to the Gota-Ognaj road.
