Scotiabank app was down on Tuesday
Hundreds of Scotiabank customers on Tuesday reported that the Canadian multinational banking and financial services company’s mobile application and online system was down. The company said that clients are unable to review their account balances due to system maintenance over the weekend.
Several customers complained on social media. “@ScotiabankHelps Scotia online is currently unavailable, any idea what time it’s going to be available?” one person asked on X.
“Ok, but I can’t see or access any of my checkings or savings accounts. They are blank. We are on the first business day after a holiday and customers shouldn’t be in this situation,” another one added.
“It’s insanity. Who schedules these “maintenance windows” and how did this get approved. Customers literally can’t access their accounts on a weekday,” a third person tweeted.
According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks online outages, 55% of the customers faced issues with online banking and 41% with mobile banking.
“Due to system maintenance conducted over the weekend, some clients are unable to review account balances online and some services may be unavailable. We’re working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience,” the company said in a statement on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.
Only earlier this year, the company confirmed a massive outage. “Some customers may be experiencing intermittent login issues when accessing their online accounts, there is no impact to direct deposit or other services,” a Scotiabank spokesperson then wrote in an emailed statement to CTVNews.ca. “Our teams are working hard to resolve the issue as soon as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.”
