As part of its summer activity, The Lexicon in Bracknell will be installing a sports screen on The Avenue, for visitors to the town centre to enjoy an alfresco viewing break from shopping.
From July 1 until September 8, The Lexicon will be showing live screenings of Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the Paralympics at a temporary sports terrace located opposite Pandora.
Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, said: “With such a fantastic summer of sport ahead of us, we thought that somewhere to watch some of the key highlights would be welcomed by our visitors.”
The sports terrace will contain tables and chairs for people to while away an hour or two when in the town centre.
Susan Halliwell, chief executive of Bracknell Forest Council, said: “Engaging with sport can provide a sense of community and belonging.
“We hope that by screening sports in the town centre, residents will be encouraged to come along and cheer on their favourites as well as be inspired to try out some of the great sporting activities available across the borough.”
The screen will be switched on at 9am every morning and will be turned off once play or competition has finished, or earlier should the sports terrace be empty.
First up is Wimbledon (July 1 until July 14) followed by the Olympics (July 25 until August 11), followed by Paralympics (July 26 until September 8).
If any home nation team progresses through to the later stages of the European Championships, the screen may show some football games, which will be confirmed nearer the time.
