Six Abbotsford high school football talents will be representing British Columbia at the Football Canada Cup event in Regina in July.
Robert Bateman’s Brady Doucette, Cade Handy, Jackson Kliewer and Dante Myers and W.J. Mouat’s Gabe Currie and Cole Shanks will all be a part of the team.
The six players are part of a 40-man roster for the event and made the team after tryouts with over 300 players occurred earlier this year.
Doucette was a provincial and divisional all-star in 2023, Handy was named the top Grade 11 defensive player, while both Currie and Shanks were named divisional all-stars.

The FCC runs from July 5 to 13 in Regina and features eight U18 teams from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The event has helped players from all over Canada attract more eyes on them as they continue in their football careers.
Team B.C. recently played an international exhibition game against the Heir Sports Academy in Tacoma and competed strong in a narrow 14-12 loss.
The 2023 FCC saw the medal games be cancelled due to poor air quality in Edmonton last summer. As a result, Saskatchewan and Quebec were named co-champions. Ontario and Alberta both earned bronze. Saskatchewan won the 2022 FCC by defeating Alberta. B.C. earned bronze that year.
