Netflix has revealed a first look at the cast and sets of Stranger Things season five.
Below is a behind-the-scenes video that includes shots of the Hawkins kids (are they still kids?) in character, as well as some of sets.
“I started when I was 10, I’m now turning 20 years old,” says star Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven). “Feels very weird.”
“It’s just so exciting, I think this is going to be the best season yet,” adds Noah Schnapp (Will Byers).
The Duffer Brothers noted that final season production is about halfway finished. Brown previously said filming is expected to wrap around Christmas. The season is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
Maya Hawke recently told Podcrushed that the eight episodes in the final season of the sci-fi hit will feel like “eight movies,” and noted the episodes are “very long.”
“Our showrunners, Matt and Ross [Duffer], take a lot of responsibility,” she added. “They have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved. They write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and so it takes a long time to write each season, and a long time to shoot them.”
The production also announced the addition of three more actors to the season five cast: Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly and Alex Breaux.
While season five is the show’s final season, there are additional Stranger Things projects in the works, including: Stranger Things: The First Shadow live on stage in London’s West End and an as-yet-untitled animated spinoff series.
Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in 2016 and became one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Its most recent fourth season generated 140 million views globally.
