Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor has been speaking to the media before Sunday’s Women’s Super League game against Liverpool (kick-off 15:00 BST).
Here are the key lines from his news conference:
The club “need a bit longer to assess” Naomi Layzell following the injury she picked up against Barcelona, but that it’s “positive news compared to what we anticipated”.
Laia Aleixandri is available despite suffering a dead leg against Barcelona.
Taylor believes their Champions League win against Barcelona on Wednesday can “ignite us” for the season ahead.
The City boss said the atmosphere at Joie Stadium was “sensational” and that he hoped that could be recreated in the future.
He is pleased with his team’s defensive record so far this season, adding “five clean sheets in six games against solid opposition is really positive for us”.
Asked whether Liverpool can be WSL title contenders this season, he said: “I don’t see why not”.
Taylor added it’s a “really good” experience for his players to play at Anfield.
