Toronto Mendelssohn Choir is heading into fall 2024 with the continuation of their uber-popular Singsation event on September 28. The special edition Singsation workshop celebrates TMChoir’s 130th Season.
Led by Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée and special guests, after the community singing workshop, audience members can enjoy the album release and listening party for Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s latest release, Remember: 130 Years of Canadian Choral Music.
CDs of Remember: 130 Years of Canadian Choral Music will be available for sale in advance of its official release date of October 4, 2024.
TMChoir’s history and legacy are the themes of Singsation, featuring a series of the venerable choir’s greatest hits. The Toronto choral community are invited to attend and sing alongside TMChoir members.
TMChoir Artistic Director Jean-Sébastien Vallée became the TMChoir’s eighth Artistic Director in 2021. He is recognized globally as a leader in the world of choral music, a conductor, scholar, and pedagogue. Maestro Vallée has worked with choirs and ensembles throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as a guest conductor. He has prepared choruses for some of North America’s leading orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa.
Alongside his work as a conductor, Jean-Sébastien is Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Studies, and Coordinator of the Ensembles & Conducting Area at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music.
Jean-Sébastien is a strong supporter of contemporary music, and has commissioned numerous works, often from young composers.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to sing in an ensemble led by a conductor with an international reputation.
