FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball has made a surprise addition to its roster, adding a fourth high school recruit to its 2024 class.
Casmir Chavis announced his commitment to John Calipari and the Razorbacks on social media Wednesday. According to the 247Sports Composite, Chavis is a three-star recruit who ranks as the No. 177 player in the country.

The combo guard was previously signed to Washington, but Chavis was released from his national letter of intent after Huskies’ coach Mike Hopkins was fired on March 8.
Chavis joins Boogie Fland, Billy Richmond and Karter Knox in Calipari’s first high school class with the Razorbacks, which ranks fifth nationally.
The addition of Chavis — along with Hawaii Pacific transfer Melo Sanchez and high school recruit Jaden Karuletwa who are not currently on the Arkansas roster — gives Calipari 13 players and one scholarship spot remaining. It is unlikely that Chavis, Sanchez and Karuletwa play a prominent role this season.
