Two of the bigger names in British combat sports will lock horns on January 18.
Unbeaten cruiserweight boxer Tommy Fury and UFC veteran Darren Till are set to collide in the main event of Misfits Boxing’s first event of 2025, “MF & DAZN: X Series 20,” at the new Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England, Misfits Boxing announced Sunday. The event streams live on DAZN pay-per-view.
Fury (10-0, 4 KOs), the half-brother of former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, was last in action in October 2023 when he edged a decision win over KSI in their mega-crossover match. Fury and KSI were in talks for a rematch, but a second fight between the pair failed to materialize.
Fury took Jake Paul’s undefeated record by split decision when they met in February 2023 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. He also owns a victory over Misfits star Anthony Taylor, which served as Fury’s U.S. debut.
The 25-year-old didn’t compete in 2024 due to a hand injury that has troubled him for several years, which required surgery.
Till, a one-time UFC title challenger, has never competed in a professional boxing contest but did take part in an exhibition match earlier this year. On that occasion, Till earned a first-round TKO victory over Palestinian MMA fighter Mohammad Mutie before the scene devolved into chaos.
Till was slated to face former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on the July 20 undercard of the original Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul booking, however the bout wasn’t rescheduled as part of the new show, which took place this past Friday.
Till, 31, is better known for his 24-fight MMA career, which included 12 UFC appearances and an unsuccessful 2018 challenge for the UFC welterweight title against Tyron Woodley. He parted ways with the UFC in March 2023 after three consecutive losses following a move up to middleweight.
“It feels great to, finally, say that I am back,” Fury said in a release.
“I have been out of the ring far too long, I’ve been getting itchy knuckles, and so I am thrilled to be able to announce my return. … This is extra special as I am the A-side and headlining a massive event in my hometown and in front of my fans, at Co-op Live.
“Till had a good UFC career but he’s stepping into the boxing ring now, against a proper pro, and he will quickly realize that he is out of his depth, and this is not the game for him,” Fury added.
“I plan on dealing with Till in conclusive fashion and then chasing even bigger fights in 2025.”
Till said: “January 18 is my time, my night.”
