Travis Kelce is no stranger to being high-profile public relationship since getting together with pop superstar Taylor Swift last year. And the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has now commented on another big name from the NFL being in the news because of his love life – Bill Bellichick.
The former New England patriots head coach, a six-time Super Bowl champion, hit the headlines last month after it was revealed he was in a relationship with Jordon Hudson, a 23-year-old entrepreneur and former college cheerleader. That means there is an almost 50-year age gap between the pair, with Belichick having turned 72 in April.
Belichick and Hudson reportedly met on a flight in 2021 and bonded over the former student athlete’s philosophy project. According to TMZ, the couple have been living together for several months, which suggests they are in it for the long haul.
The situation has inevitably led to comments from all quarters, with Kelce the latest to offer his own humorous take in the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, which he stars on with brother Jason, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Belichick’s name came up as the Kelce brothers tried to decide which NFL figure was most like Benjamin Franklin. Travis put the former Pats coach forward, which the elder Kelce wasn’t having. And the Chiefs star also appeared to be the one most keen to delve into the veteran’s off-field endeavours.
“I’m not getting a Belichick vibe from Benny,” Jason responded to Travis’ suggestion.
“Belichick’s a smooth operator. His girlfriend’s…,” the younger Kelce stopped himself before going any further, beaming from ear to ear.
“Let’s not go there, please. Jesus Christ,” came the pleading response.
“He’s killing it,” was Travis’ final judgement on the situation.
Coincidentally, the roles were reversed in September last year as Belichick was asked to give his view on Kelce’s then new relationship with Swift: “Travis Kelce’s had a lot of big catches in his career. This would be the biggest,” he joked.
