CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — Emma Navarro, a tennis alum of the University of Virginia (UVA), advanced to the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Sunday.
According to Wimbledon’s official X page, Navarro won her match against Coco Gauff on Sunday afternoon, sending her through to the quarter-finals, and allowing her to reach her first ever Grand Slam quarter-final.
Although she was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Navarro attended UVA, and won an NCAA championship for the university while she was there.
Navarro will also represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympic Tennis Event.
