The storied grass-court stage is set for the 2024 edition of the Wimbledon Championships, which will begin Monday in London.
Wimbledon will be the third Grand Slam tournament of the 2024 tennis calendar and the last major tennis event ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland and No. 2 Coco Gauff of the U.S. will headline the women’s singles competition as they both look for their first Wimbledon crown. The pair last met June 6 during the semifinals of the 2024 French Open, where Swiatek defeated Gauff in straight sets before going on to win her third consecutive French Open and fifth Grand Slam title.
Defending champion Markéta Vondroušová of the Czech Republic, currently ranked sixth by the WTA, is also set to return to Wimbledon after making history last year as the first unseeded woman to win the tournament.
On the men’s side, No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy and No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain are the favorites, while No. 2 Novak Djokovic of Serbia has yet to confirm his participation after suffering a torn meniscus in his right knee at the French Open.
Alcaraz will look to defend his 2023 Wimbledon title following his latest and third career Grand Slam title at the 2024 French Open, but he is bound to face intense competition from fellow rising star Sinner, who won his first Grand Slam at January’s Australian Open and sits at the top of ATP’s world rankings. If Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon Champion with 24 Grand Slam titles, is healthy and chooses to compete, he will be locked into a three-man battle to lift the men’s singles trophy.
The 2024 Wimbledon Championships begin July 1 and last until July 14, with matches scheduled every day of the tournament. The singles competitions begin Day 1 and the first of the doubles competitions start Day 3.
ESPN’s family of television channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes and ABC) will exclusively broadcast the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, beginning at 6 a.m. ET July 1.
Every match will be available to stream on the ESPN App with a subscription to ESPN+ or TV Everywhere. Daily coverage details will be announced the day prior. ABC will air select weekend matches.
The Tennis Channel will also run nightly coverage of the tournament starting at 5 p.m. ET most evenings.
