With Novak Djokovic getting a walkover win following Alex de Minaur’s withdrawal because of a hip injury, we already know the seven-time champion will be awaiting the winner of this one.
But neither Lorenzo Musetti nor Taylor Fritz have a good record against the 24-time Grand Slam champion, but, then again, not many do.
Musetti has lost five of the six matches with Djokovic, including in the last 16 of the French Open in 2021 (the Italian had to retire injured in the last set) and also the third round of the same event three years later.
Fritz’s record against Djokovic? Played nine, lost nine, including three Grand Slam matches – two at the Australian Open, in 2021 and 2024, and the quarter-finals of last year’s US Open.
However, the way this set has panned out, Fritz would be absolutely delighted to win this match and get another chance at Djokovic.
