Muth, the morning-line favorite who was scratched from the
Preakness after trainer Bob Baffert said he spiked a fever, was back on the
work tab Thursday for the second week in a row.
The $2 million colt owned by Zedan Racing Stables was clocked
going a half-mile in 48.0 seconds on the main track at Santa Anita. That was
where the son of Good Magic worked on the Tapeta training track last Thursday,
going five furlongs in 1:02.4.
Baffert has not firmly declared a next race for Muth, a two-time Grade 1 winner whose long-range
target is the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 2 at Del Mar.
There were eight graded-stakes winners who breezed in the U.S. and
Canada on Thursday.
Muth (Good Magic), a two-time Grade 1
winner (2024 Arkansas Derby, 2023 American Pharoah), worked four furlongs in
48.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 43
works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs
at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Arkansas Derby (G1) going 1 1/8
miles on the main track at Oaklawn on March 30 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Anisette (Awtaad), a three-time Grade 1
winner (2024 Gamely, 2023 American Oaks, 2023 Del Mar Oaks), worked four
furlongs in 47.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the 10th fastest of 43 works at
the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Santa
Anita. In her last start she won the Gamely (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf
at Santa Anita on May 27 for trainer Leonard Powell.
Get Smokin (Get Stormy), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2023 Kentucky
Turf Cup, 2020 Hill Prince), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Woodbine.
It was the 14th fastest of 29 works at the distance. His previous work was six
days ago going four furlongs at Woodbine. In his last start he placed fourth in
the Eclipse (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Woodbine on June 1 for
trainer Mark Casse.
Bran (Muhaarar), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Turf Sprint), worked five

work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in the Monmouth
(G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Monmouth Park on June 15 for trainer

Danse Macabre (Army Mule), a Grade 3 winner (2023
