OTTAWA — The Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) has become the first airport in Canada to trial a new customized screening line, designed to enhance passenger flow while incorporating advanced security technology.
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is rolling out this initiative to help airports with limited space integrate state-of-the-art screening equipment. The newly installed screening line at YQB (Line 6) offers the advantages of CATSA Plus, enabling up to three passengers to place their belongings in screening bins simultaneously. This setup aims to reduce wait times and streamline the security process.
Travellers using the new screening line will also benefit from computed tomography (CT) X-ray technology. This means that, where permitted, liquids, aerosols and gels (100 mL or less), medical devices and large electronics – including laptops – will no longer need to be removed from carry-on bags, making the security process smoother and more efficient.
