Yuvraj Singh, the former India cricketer, has offered a scholarship to 4-year-old cricket prodigy Rishika Sarkar from Kolkata. While the toddler’s video showcasing her cricket talent had gone viral on social media, the Player of The Tournament from India’s 2011 ODI World Cup-winning side, not only took cognizance of her talent but went ahead to offer a scholarship. Yuvi informed that he would be funding Rishika’s education and cricket training at the Merlin Rise Yuvraj Singh’s Centre of Excellence in Kolkata.

Notably, a video of Rishika playing with her father had surfaced on the internet a few days ago. In the viral clip, the little girl could be seen batting with technial accumen. While she was hailed for her talent, the video seems to have come in the notice of the retired international cricketer who has decided to groom her into a potential cricketing start of the future.
“The Yuvraj Singh Center of Excellence at Merlin Rise, Kolkata is committed to nurturing young cricketing talent. Cricket talent has always been ahead in Bengal and we are giving this special scholarship to talent like Rishika Sarkar. I have seen videos of him playing cricket and I believe he is very talented at such a young age. Some of her shots moved me. We will assist him in his training at our High-Performance Training Center at YSCE at Merlin Rise, Kolkata, and our coaches will help her hone his talent further,” Yuvraj said as quoted in a report from India Today.

Meanwhile, the same report has claimed that Yuvi even gifted a signed bat to Ritika who has had to face hardships in her day-to-day life, with her family even struggling for food. Apart from the Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence, Yuvi, a cancer survivor himself, runs a Non-Profit-Organisation (NGO) called YouWeCan dedicated to help people fight cancer.
