Paris Saint-Germain maintained their perfect Ligue 1 record after a 3-1 win over Lille on Sunday.
Scorers: Zhegrova 78′; Vitinha 33 (P), Barcola 36′, Kolo Muani 90+2′
It was a match of few opportunities for these two sides for roughly 80 minutes of football before drama ensued in the final frames.
Lille’s Bafodé Diakité had a chance for an early opener, but his shot was deflected off the post by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The visitors then required a bit of luck to break the deadlock. Ousmane Dembele’s fancy footwork in the box and a slip from Alexsandro led to a penalty, which Vitinha easily converted.
The scoreline doubled in a flash when Marco Asensio and Bradley Barcola teamed up on a counterattack. The 21-year-old cut in on the wing and curled home his fourth goal in three games.
Lille pushed for a comeback after the break but continued to be shut down. Substitute Jonathan David had a particularly quiet performance off the bench.
That all changed, though, when Edon Zhegrova turned things 2-1. The forward drifted inside and fired from range beyond Donnarumma as home fans erupted.
Things temporarily turned 2-2 via Tiago Santos but VAR ruled the goal offside as PSG went on to secure the victory via Randal Kolo Muani’s header in stoppage time.
