Arsenal fans are left holding their breath after Martin Ødegaard was forced off through injury during Norway‘s clash with Austria.
His nation were drawing 1-1 when their midfield maestro went down with an ankle issue, which required him to be helped off the pitch by two of the Norwegian medical staff.
Head coach Ståle Solbakken confirmed after the game that the 25-year-old sprained his ankle.
“Martin Ødegaard’s injury looked bad in the dressing room as well,” he said. “He got a small ankle sprain. We will see, maybe we use ultrasound to look at it. If we are unsure, there will be an MRI tomorrow.”
Already without midfield duo Declan Rice and Mikel Merino for this weekend’s north London derby, the Gunners will be praying that the issue isn’t serious enough to rule the Arsenal captain out too.
