It is exactly 22 years since the world of football changed forever.

On October 7, 2002, a young Sporting CP attacker known as Cristiano Ronaldo announced himself to the world by netting the first goal of his career.

It would have the hallmarks of what was to come – gliding past defenders, lightning fast stepovers and a deft finish helped his team to a 3-0 win over Moreirense.

Twenty-two years and 904 goals later, he’s still going strong and the rest is history.
