World class horse racing takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., and on Saturday the late Pick 4 begins with the American Derby at 4:58 p.m. ET and ends with the Tepin Stakes. Before you make any picks, you NEED to know how SportsLine writer Gene Menez has handicapped the sequence.
A former reporter and editor at Sports Illustrated, Menez covered an array of sports, including horse racing, for the magazine and its website for almost 14 years. Between 2010 and 2012, he served as SI’s handicapper for the Triple Crown races and correctly predicted Super Saver to win the Kentucky Derby in 2010.
In 2015, while writing for Sports on Earth, Menez accurately gave out the Kentucky Derby superfecta (American Pharoah, Firing Line, Dortmund and Frosted), which paid $1,268.20 for $2. Then in 2017, he tweeted out his Kentucky Derby picks, including Always Dreaming to win, and hit the Pick 4, which paid almost $6,900 on a $1 bet.
In a span of seven races last year for SportsLine, he cashed the winner of the Lecomte Stakes, the exacta in the Southwest Stakes ($468), the winner of the Holy Bull Stakes, the winner of the Sam F. Davis Stakes, and the trifecta in the Jenny Wiley Stakes. He also correctly called National Treasure to win last year’s Preakness.
And last month, Menez gave out 18-1 Mystik Dan as a live longshot in the Kentucky Derby.
For Saturday, Menez has handicapped the late Pick 4 at Churchill Downs, made his picks and constructed his tickets.
We can tell you that Menez is high on Pipsy, the 7-2 favorite in the Tepin Stakes, the last leg of the Pick 4. “This Irish bred is coming off an impressive win in the Soaring Softly Stakes at Aqueduct. On Saturday she will make her second start off a layoff and second start in North America,” Menez told SportsLine. Pipsy is Menez’s top pick in the Tepin Stakes and an A horse on his Pick 4 tickets.
In addition, Menez is high on a double-digit longshot on Saturday. He says this longshot is a “horse with some speed” and could spice up the Pick 4. Menez is including this longshot on his tickets, and so should you. You NEED to see Menez’s analysis before making any Pick 4 selections.
So which double-digit longshot can win? And how has Menez constructed his Pick 4 tickets? … Join SportsLine now to get Pick 4 selections at Churchill Downs for Saturday, all from the horse racing writer who gave out Mystik Dan as a live longshot in the Kentucky Derby!
