A city hall meeting was postponed on Wednesday, which a councillor linked to a security concern.
Council’s property and development committee will instead hear the list of appeals on Nov. 14. The committee did not have quorum when the delay was announced.
Coun. Matt Allard said the delay was linked to a “concern about security.”
“There was an individual involved that may or may not have been part of the hearings, that created a risk that we felt was important enough to stay out of the meeting,” said Allard (St. Boniface).
He declined to offer further details.
Coun. Sherri Rollins, the committee’s chairwoman, told reporters the meeting was postponed due to more than one reason.
“We adjourn meetings for administrative reasons. It could include security, it could also be staff complement isn’t ready, it could also be quorum. Today (it’s a) combination thereof,” said Rollins.
She also declined to share further details.
In a brief statement, a city spokesman stated only that the meeting “did not reach quorum” and would be rescheduled.
