Textured denim and loose-fitting jeans were the unofficial dress code for the 2024 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards held in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Tennis great Serena Williams collected the Legend Award, dressed in a cropped white shirt and JW Anderson’s $650 twisted barrel jeans. Details that are normally on the back and side of jeans, like patch pockets, a carpenter loop and leather patch, were skewed toward the front.
Country star Jelly Roll attended the event with his daughter, Bailee Ann, and son, Noah Buddy, in matching double-denim looks. The trio walked the red carpet in printed and overdyed denim.
Celebs interpreted the embellished denim trend in different ways. Makeup artist Patrick Starrr wore wide-leg jeans adorned with clear crystals. To collect her award for Breakout New Artist, actress and singer Reneé Rapp wore painted flare jeans.
YouTuber Markell Washington wore a deconstructed denim tuxedo and accessorized the look with a denim necktie and rosettes. Rapper Paul Russell core a light wash denim jacket and relaxed jeans decorated with floral patchwork and embroideries.
Celebs also put their own spin on workwear. Actress Dana Heath wore a belted workwear-inspired jacket as a minidress. YouTuber Pressley Hosbach wore a textured denim cropped jacket and matching cargo jeans.
TikToker Trey Makai paired a jacquard denim jacket with baggy dark wash jeans. Actor Peyton R. Perrine III kept it simply yet bold in a red denim jacket. Actor Montana Jordan leaned into the Western aesthetic with a Wrangler shirt, light wash jeans and cowboy boots.
