DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)—With no postseason play in store for Dothan United, the Dragons played for the last time this year this weekend.
On Saturday, the Dragons faced off against Southern Soccer Academy in a rematch between the two programs; which ended in a draw during their first meeting.
The first 45 minutes were a nightmare for Head Coach Carl Reynolds and his team.
At the end of the first half, Dothan found themselves down in a quick 3-0 hole. Coming out in the second half, it was clear that Reynolds pushed his team to be more aggressive.
Five minutes into the half, Nicolas Cam got the Dragons on the board to make it a 3-1 match. Not long after, Reese Harrison was somehow able to get the ball into the net and past the SCC goalie for another Dragons goal. In the end, Dothan United would tie this match thanks to a goal from Aaron Williams-Fernandez to cap off three unanswered goals.
With season one officially in the books, Reynolds took the time to thank the Dothan faithful for their support throughout the season.
“Everybody’s welcomed us so much, and I think going into the season, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, Reynolds said. “But, the pressure at the end of the season came because we wanted to do it for the fans.”
