Twitch streamer DrDecomposing managed to beat the final boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree using a saxophone in place of a controller. His immense display of skill is all the more impressive in light of the fact that the DLC’s final fight is widely considered as the single biggest challenge that Elden Ring has to offer.
Shadow of the Erdtree endgame spoilers ahead.
The two-stage fight against a reincarnated Radahn has been at the center of many players’ complaints about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree‘s difficulty. Aside from boasting one of the most challenging movesets that FromSoftware ever designed, the new and improved version of Radahn can take an extraordinary amount of punishment and is immensely difficult to stagger. That’s before he gets Miquella’s Holy attacks in the second phase of the fight, which starts as soon as he drops to three-quarters of his sizable health bar.

One of the new Elden Ring weapons introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree has absolutely absurd range, on top of some other notable benefits.
Twitch streamer DrDecomposing not only managed to overcome all of those challenges, but did so while playing the game with an electronic saxophone. The instrument appears to have been set up in a way so that most of the game’s button prompts corresponded to a different note. Near the very end of the fight, which was broadcast live on June 29, DrDecomposing’s Tarnished face-tanked the boss’s devastating Holy Meteor Crash, which prompted the streamer to stop playing for a second while he burst into laughter, seemingly unbothered by everything that was happening on screen. He showed a bit more varied range of emotions when the boss finally succumbed to his wounds, which left the content creator speechless while he was trying to process the magnitude of his latest Elden Ring achievement.
By the time he had managed to beat Radahn’s second Shadow of the Erdtree phase, DrDecomposing still had six Flask of Crimson Tears healing charges remaining. His gear setup for the fight was fairly simple, with the bulk of his offense and defense being delegated to the Carian Thrusting Shield , one of the many new pieces of equipment introduced in the recently released DLC. The shield itself was upgraded to the max and had a Heavy Affinity. The streamer also took advantage of plenty of buffs in order to raise his stamina and various damage resistance ratings, among other stats.
Other highlights from this extraordinary “doot run” include DrDecomposing’s triumph over Messmer the Impaler , which only took him eight tries. His victory against Radahn was a result of several days’ worth of incessant attempts.
While the newly shared achievement may very well be the pinnacle of DrDecomposing’s saxophone feats in soulslikes, it’s far from his only such accomplishment. Another similar stunt was performed back in July 2023, when the streamer used his trusty saxophone to complete a hitless Elden Ring run.
