Former Aston Villa forward Bertrand Traore got his first goal on his return to Ajax in a thumping victory over Fortuna Sittard. The Amsterdam side cruised to a 5-0 win thanks to Rodrigo Guth’s red card just on half-time. The win is only the sides second one this season, having seen a handful of games postponed for European action and safety fears.
Traore was immediately involved, providing an assist for Kenneth Taylor to open the scoring after just 10 minutes. The Burkinabe striker then grabbed his first goal since returning to Ajax in the summer, with Chuba Akpom the provider. Following Guth’s red card, goals from Youri Baas, Devyne Rensch and Chuba Akpom put the icing on the cake of a huge win for the side. Ajax were totally dominant, with 74% of the ball and 25 shots on goal.
For Fortuna Sittard, they have now suffered three Eredivisie defeats on the bounce. They have also failed to score in each of their last three games, despite having started the season with two wins. Their task does not get any easier when they face free scoring PSV on Sunday.
For Ajax, they are up against Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday evening.
