A Swift Current Broncos alumnus has been included on Team Canada’s 22-man rosters for the upcoming 2024 IIHF World Championship.
Goalie Joel Hofer will join the Canadian squad, for a second straight year, at 16-team tournament that opens in Czechia on May 10.
The 23-year-old appeared in two games in last year’s championship going 1-1 with a 1.46 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. Hofer and Canada won their 28th title in 2023 beating Germany 5-2 in the finals.
The St. Louis Blues netminder appeared in 30 NHL games this season posting a 15-12-1 record with a 2.65 goals against average and a .914 save percent.
Hofer also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
