The Red Deer Minor Basketball Association (RDMBA) has announced that they are now a Canada Basketball verified program.
The Association now in it’s 13th season, is also getting ready for Spring season, and Ruben Dorsey, the Executive Director of RDMBA talks about the importance of this verification.
“Being a Canada Basketball Verified program is important because it shows players, parents, and other basketball clubs that we’re here to build a strong basketball community for every age and every ability,” said Ruben Dorsey, Executive Director of RDMBA. “It’s all about making sure kids have fun, and if they do decide to take the steps to go to an elite level they have the right skills to do it. This is just one more tool to help build up strong, skilled players.”
Club President Jillana Knauft agrees.
“We’re focused on having quality programming that builds from a strong foundation. Part of that means ensuring our club’s policies continue to align with the national standard, and that we can provide up-to-date training and resources as well.”
The Canada Basketball Verification Program reviews three key pillars to successful programming, including technical skill development aligned with Canada Basketball’s model for Long Term Development, important aspects of Safe Sport and EDI (Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion) practices, and proper administrative and governance procedures.
Program registration for U11, U13, U15, and U18 players is open through March 15, with the spring season kicking off April 17. Outside club teams are invited to register for the league through March 30. Programming for U5 through U18 will return again in the fall.
