Stretches of a highway overpass just east of Regina had to be closed Saturday morning due to a hazardous material spill, the local fire department says.
The Highway 46 overpass over Highway 1 was closed around 10:30 a.m., between the north and south service roads, due to the spill, the Balgonie Volunteer Fire Department said in a social media post.
The department said the westbound offramp from Highway 1 to Highway 46 was open, but only to go north on 46 or east on the service road.
It said there is little to no risk to the public, and no impact on Highway 1 under the overpass.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday, Saskatchewan’s Highway Hotline website indicated the overpass was still closed.
